Searches

The confident and knowledgeable use of the Search views is important if you are to get the most out of the system and simplify its use. All searches will be executed firstly with default search values that have been set up for you and it is quite possible that these will suffice. It is also quite possible that you will need to change them quite often in order to display the data you want to work with only.

Above is an example of a search that has just been executed by the user. No results are shown in the Grid view. Some searches could potentially return hundreds of records to the Grid view which is too much to sensibly work on. In this situation the user may wish to add more detail before executing the search.

In our example above the user has narrowed the search down to yesterday and today and the search has returned three records with a status of Booked that meet this condition.

Wild card characters can be used in searches. The example below illustrates this. The search is for any job by any customer where the first two characters of the Customers name are Ad within the date range specified. In this example two records were returned.

As stated, the competent use of searches will greatly assist you with processing your companies transactions within the TLP suite. It is recommended that you spend some time practicing the use of searches, asking yourself questions about the data and using a search to answer that question. No practice will be a waste of time at this stage.
