Manifests

The movement of job items is managed by the use of a facility known as a manifest and is often referred to as a run sheet. A manifest allows a load to be defined and managed, a load being a number of different job items that are moved in unison. It also allows the work carried out over a period of time to be defined and managed (eg: all work carried out in a shift).

Movements

A manifest will consist of one or more movements, each of which can be managed independently if required. The movement facility allows us to link the various components of a shift or trip for accurate management of the entire manifest. For example by maximizing loading of each segment of the trip the overall trip has its loading maximized.

A movement may be a trip segment such as A to B, B to C and so on. This definition of movements is used for LCL work generally.

Alternatively a movement may be equivalent to an entire job. Typically this approach applies to FCL or bulk work.
