Locations

The system allows locations to be set up in a detailed form to assist with the management of a warehouse. A location is identified by a combination of five fields being;

Warehouse        The warehouse in which the location can be found

Row                       A row identifier. This is an alphanumeric field

Position                A numeric field which identifies the position within the row

Height                   A numeric field which identifies the height at that position

Depth                   A numeric field which identifies the depth at that height.

Generally we would expect all fields to be used for racked areas but they are not all required for other types. For example a bulk outdoor area could be set up as follows;

Warehouse        BULK

Row                       OUTDOORS

Automatic Creation of Rack Locations

The system enables you to automatically create racking locations by “back filling” locations that are not present. For example if you had a row with 10 positions, 4 high and 1 deep you only need to set up the highest location being;

Row                       A

Position                10

Height                   4

Depth                   1

Upon Save the system will automatically create locations that do not exist in this sequence. Hence it will create as follows;

Row                       A             A             ………….                 A

Position                10           10           ………….                    1

Height                   3              2              ………….                 1

Depth                   1              1              ………….                 1

This process is only carried out if the original location had a location type of “Rack”

Explanation of Fields

Some notes on fields.

Type                                 This must be a valid Location Type

Max Quantity                    The maximum quantity of products that can be stored in this location.

Max Pallets                       The maximum number of pallets that can be stored at this location.

Max Volume                      The cubic capacity of the location.

Max Weight                       The maximum weight that can be stored at this location.

Put Away Priority               The system allows Locations to be prioritised for put away purposes.

Picking Priority                  The system allows Locations to be prioritised for picking purposes.

For example you may wish to have the products picked from the highest level first in which case you would give that level a priority of 1, the next level a priority of 2 and so on.

The Free fields are maintained by the system and let you know how much space is available in any individual location.

Movements Enquiry Within A Location

TLP displays a list of all product movements into a location. By clicking on the blue View button the user is able to view the Movement document. An explanation of this document is provided in the section headed Warehouse Inward Movement.
