Views

The data stored within the system is accessed by screen displays called Views. There are three prime view types and one type with extended functionality.  The three prime types are;

Search View

A search view enables you to use the filters that are made available to you, to select the records that you wish to deal with. For example if I wanted to view all of this week’s jobs I would but the required date range into the search.

Grid View

When the search has been executed the results of the search are shown in a grid view which uses one row for each record returned by the search. The grid view is displayed below the search view that retrieved the data.

Gen1

The screen shot above shows how the two views work together. The Search view is the top section and in this example we asked for all jobs for Customer “Addu” for the week as defined by the date range. The two lines below are the results which are displayed in a Grid view. From this point we can carry out further tasks using the Standard Buttons, as described within this section.

Detail View

The Detail view is the view that shows full details and allows you to work on the selected record. The example below is of the detail view of a job record.

Gen2

Within a Detail view data can be shown in a number of screens, accessed through tabs which are presented in the top line of a detail view.  The example above illustrates this with eight tabs being displayed along the top line, all showing differing information.

In our example above the user has narrowed the search down to yesterday and today and the search has returned three records with a status of Booked that meet this condition.

Wild card characters can be used in searches. The example below illustrates this. The search is for any job by any customer where the first two characters of the Customers name are Ad within the date range specified. In this example two records were returned.
